Strategic alliance for a strong future
In 2004 Hülsenberger Zuchtschweine GmbH entered
into a genetic collaboration with the French breeding
company ADN – ALLIANCE DE DIFFUSION DES NUCLEI.
The voint venture between two partners with similar
objectives guarantees a strong position in the pig
market of the future.
By joining forces the companies have increased their
genetic resources, enabling low heritable traits
to be successfully included in the breeding programme.
The result is superiority of the lines in prolificacy
through hyperprolific selection. It also means that
sufficient funding is available for research projects
such as embryo transfer, molecular genetics and MAS.
The division of responsibilities in the areas of
multiplier production, production management and
sales is clearly laid down in a Cooperation Agreement.
Under the terms of the Agreement, Hülsenberger
Zuchtschweine GmbH is responsible for sales of breeding
animals as before, including technical production
advice for multipliers, while ADN focuses on breeding
work.
The communications centre between breeding and sales
is farm concepts
GmbH & Co. KG, which is located
in Germany and also runs the EU-accredited Hülsenberg
boar station. This PRRS-free station supplies multiplier
farms in Germany and Austria as well as franchise
operations in Europe with sperm from the top boars
from the Hyperprolific Programme. Being affiliated
to the national database (INRA), farm concepts does
all the data processing and checking.
